The characters in this book were designed to strike a balance between artistic intrigue and accessibility for young readers. Simple shapes, enriched with organic textures, create a visually captivating yet inviting aesthetic.
World Build
Beyond style and color, it was essential to shape Mindy’s world through the objects she surrounds herself with. When everything is designed with intention, each element should reflect her character and personality.
Early in the design phase, we recognized that negative space created the most impact, naturally guiding the eye to the intended focal point. Since the story explores a young person’s chaotic thoughts and fears, each page’s composition needed to emphasize the singular thing consuming her attention.
